Positive Effects of an Online Course Attending school full time and having a full time job very much effects the time I have throughout my day to day life, therefore I must make the most wise decisions in order to make the hours in my day efficient . When I was first introduced to an online course, I knew this would be a great opportunity to balance my priorities and in turn, allow my schedule to run much smoother from such a hectic schedule. There are many positive effects that come along with an online course and I have experienced them first hand in result of my decision to enroll in an online course.
By doing so I have made my academic years very free flowing and the outcome of an online course have positive effects such as being able to be flexible with my time, being my own absence patrol and developing a flexible gas budget. First off, one of the main reasons I very much enjoy being enrolled in an online course throughout the semester is the time flexibility advantage and not physically being required to sit in a classroom. While enrolled in an online course you are able to set aside your own hours when completing an assignment and focus on your own time and then submit by the deadline assigned.
You are able to decide when you want to complete an assignment and the hours of your choice could be during a lunch break or even late at night. As a full time employee I see the opportunity as a missing puzzle piece to my daily life; I love flexibility. In a lecture course there is certain time period to where you are obligated to sit in facing toward the professor and listen to their lecture for about two hours two to three times a week. I find meeting at a specific time period for an entire semester, can at times be very frustrating and inconvenient when you work a full time job.
I am an individual who likes to move forward quickly with assignments and get straight to the point; I do not like to feel imprisoned in a classroom. I am able to view the instructions online and move at my own pace whether the pace be rapid or slow; the time is my choice. The flexibility of my assigning my own hours makes me feel comfortable and at ease with my course load while maintaining a full time job. I am in control of my assignments and the hours I designate to the course, if I get home and simply want to relax and work on an assignment late throughout the night, I can, I do not have to go to a classroom straight out of work.
It is a given, not one course is going to require zero amount of hours or endless effort to be put in, all courses require time but it’s your choice of when you will assign this designated time; I truly love advantage and in my eyes is a very positive effect. Second, the economy is very tough and gas is very expensive; you are able to complete assignments in the comfort of your own home and you save gas as well. I am a student who does not receive financial aid, so I must pay for my own classes without assistance as well as the gas to travel to school, which is an extra expense in my budget.
This is a factor most individuals take for granted, students may not realize traveling to school does require gas and it is difficult when you have other priorities. When a student receives a grant and the left over amount they stay with and are free to spend it on what they desire, which allows leeway in a budget. The amount of money a student receives back from the government is designated to be used for school allowances, which includes gas and having this extra money makes things a little easier on the student.
Taking an online course is a positive effect when it comes to a budget; this opportunity allows my budget a little more flexible as well. I cannot afford to make an extra trip to school three times out of the week and taking an online course helps me save money. The amount of money I save may not be much, but it does add up and makes a difference. Third, I am my own absence patrol! There will be no absences to be counted against me in an online class. While taking an online class I am able to view the deadlines for a particular assignment and I have the option to either turn in early or simply submit by the deadline.
In a normal lecture classroom, assignments usually have to be turned into the professor during the specified lecture hours. Taking a trip out of town is an example of being flexible with your absences. You can make arrangements to submit your assignment early and then be on your way out of town with no worries of having to be physically present in order to receive credit. Versus, being in a regular classroom, you must be present in class in order to receive credit for any assignment or roll call for that specific day. You are only allowed at most 3 absences.
I find this to be risky if you use one of your absence days to go out of town. You potentially risk getting sick in the near future and not being able to attend class. I enjoy taking an online class and I perceive taking such type of course makes tasks much easier in my life. I am able to be flexible with my time, save money and work freely without the idea of absences. These are a few reasons of the positive effects I have experienced while enrolled in an online course. I believe this is a great opportunity for many individuals to be able to work at their own pace and be flexible with their life.
